Alkis Tsolakis has studied, practiced, and taught art and architecture on three continents. He has led study abroad programs for different institutions for the last 30 years and was the founding director of the Drury University Center in Greece. He directed the architecture and interior design programs at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, leading the university’s successful effort to obtain professional accreditation. Tsolakis has worked as Atelier for Architecture and Design in Zurich, Switzerland and was the project architect for the National University of Athens in Greece. During his tenure at LSU, the College of Art & Design has seen a significant increase in the numbers of international students and faculty.

Gabriela González is a professor of physics and astronomy from Argentina whose research focus is gravitational waves. She served as spokesperson for the LIGO Scientific Collaboration in 2001 – 2017 and collaborates with their organization to develop ultrasensitive technology and data analysis for detecting these waves.

Mette Gaarde is from Denmark and is a professor in the physics & astronomy department at Louisiana State University (LSU). Her research is primarily in atomic, molecular, and optical physics.

Dr. Aly Mousaad Aly is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU). His research interests focus on experimental wind engineering and structural dynamics and how to implement this knowledge into the infrastructure of different communities.

Ye-Sho Chen is a professor and director of globalization in the E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University (LSU). His work with Chinese companies has helped bring Chinese businesses into the United States. His work led to the creation of the China Initiative in 2006 and he continues to work towards building bridges between international markets.

Dr. Warny is an Antarctic geologist originally from Belgium. After she finished her Ph.D., she came to the United States and now works as an associate professor at Louisiana State University (LSU). Her research in Antarctica studying fossilized pollen and spores has enhanced our understanding of the changing climate.
My petroleum engineering teacher was really informed. He knew a lot about petroleum. And we can just come into his office, and he’ll talk about petroleum all day long… There’s a lot of oil here, and we can go to an oil rig and learn how that works.
