LSU Global Family celebrates Chinese New Year
Students from at least nine different countries gathered Friday evening to celebrate the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, as an LSU Global Family.
About 50 students met in Kirby Smith Hall, the residence hall where most current LSU Global students live, and shared more than 15 authentic Chinese dishes and played several different games to welcome The Year of the Dog.
“It was nice!” said Tianyu Cheng, a pre-nursing student from Binzhou in the Shandong province.
Ruichen Zhu, a landscape architecture student from Zhengzhou who has completed his LSU Global program, was thrilled to see so many people share the holiday together.
“That was a lot of fun!” said the sophomore, who visited to celebrate with his fellow students. “That was a lot of people. I loved it! That is a good thing.”
Jingyi Yu, a film and media arts major from Beijing, said the food was delicious and authentic — particularly to the southern regions of China.
